Leadership Development Courses, conducted by The Boys’ Brigade Queensland, are highly regarded by participants, their parents and their Brigade companies, and in the wider community by churches, church leaders and employers. It has been operating for over 40 years and has participants and has had participants and staff from many states of Australia and overseas.

Leadership is run by volunteers with leaders coming regularly coming from across Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra, New Zealand, and USA to come and serve the young men.

Leadership (as the Courses have become known) offers a new experience of fun, friendship and challenge. Participants go home with new skills – perhaps having made changes to their lives as well.

Leadership is open to young men currently in year 10 or higher, including those who may already be in a ‘leader’ role. To be able to participate fully, participants will need to have reached in their own development a level of personal maturity and behaviour stability that enables them to operate in a Group, working together. If they are a bit shy or under-confident, that’s okay – the Course will assist in the development of skills and confidence.

Leadership promotes servant leadership. So, the Course is based on the assumption that all participants are able to live together in a small community that cares enough for one another to share and serve and thus encourage one another to successfully rise to new challenges.

Whilst the course was developed and is run by BB (Boys’ Brigade) for its members, it is open to other young men who may be involved in a local church or school where a leader who is aware of Leadership supports their readiness to attend.
